Book an initial consultation and we’ll match you with the service and support you’ll most benefit from, according to your unique needs.

Frequently asked questions

Our clinic consists of a team of highly experienced clinicians who all have many years experience in treating emotional difficulties. Our clinicians usually come from a strong NHS background and have a complex understanding – and ability – to formulate emotional difficulties. As a result, you can be confident that we will offer you the right professional support to meet your individual needs.

When you first get in touch with the clinic, our clinical triage team will ask you a range of questions to determine which specialist is right for you. Many of our clients will get assessed by a clinical or counselling psychologist to begin with. However, if you require medication or your difficulties are more severe and/or complex, we may recommend that you start by seeing a consultant psychiatrist.

If you have a preference to see a specific clinician, please let us know. We will always do our best to accommodate your request. However, part of our clinical triage process is to determine which clinician we believe is the best fit for you and your needs. And so, following your assessment, we will suggest the clinician who is best tailored to help your individual difficulties.

We support adults facing a wide variety of issues, such as anxiety, depressionrelationship challenges, work-related stress, grief or personal transitions (e.g., career changes, parenthood). Our clinicians use evidence-based therapies to address both short-term concerns and more longstanding, complex mental health issues and we can help with adjusting to receiving a diagnosis and understanding what it means for you as a person.

We strive to make therapy accessible for all clients. Along with flexible scheduling options, we also offer online therapy sessions for those who can’t attend in person or have unpredictable routines. Our aim is to work with you to find a consistent appointment time that fits your lifestyle, ensuring therapy remains a priority.

It’s entirely understandable to feel anxious about sharing sensitive information. Our therapists are trained to create a safe, respectful and confidential environment. You control what you disclose and can take it at your own pace. Building trust and comfort is a key part of the therapeutic process, and your wellbeing is our top priority.

Yes. Whilst many adults benefit from talk therapy alone, others may require additional support from medication – particularly if issues like severe anxiety or depression are present. Our psychiatrists can conduct a comprehensive evaluation to determine whether medication might be beneficial and can manage prescriptions or dosage adjustments alongside regular therapy sessions.

Yes. Feeling stuck is common in adulthood, particularly during career plateaus or personal crises. Through a range of therapeutic approaches such as Schema TherapyACT and CFT etc., your therapist can help you clarify what’s holding you back, set achievable goals, and rekindle motivation and purpose in various aspects of your life.

Yes. Adult ADHD often presents as challenges with organisation, focus and impulsivity. In addition to potential medication management, therapy can teach coping strategies such as time management techniques, mindfulness practices and cognitive restructuring. Beyond this, we help you understand the self in the context of a diagnosis, adjusting to it and explaining your symptoms. This combined approach can significantly improve daily functioning, job performance and overall quality of life.

Absolutely. Many adults seek therapy for personal development, self-exploration or relationship improvements rather than a formal diagnosis. Therapy can foster better self-awareness, emotional intelligence and communication skills. This proactive approach often leads to enhanced well-being and resilience, even if you’re not experiencing a clear-cut mental health condition.

Yes. Not all therapy experiences are the same. If you didn’t connect with a previous therapist or approach, it doesn’t mean therapy can’t work for you. At The Chelsea Psychology Clinic, we offer various therapeutic modalities and clinicians with diverse specialisations. An initial consultation can help us match you with a therapist and style that align better with your needs.
